Dojo

Welcome to the Guelph Kudaka Dojo (GKD). Established in 1993 by Sensei Wolfgang Boggs, the GKD has been a welcoming place for students interested in the study of traditional Karate-do.   At the GKD, we practice Shorinjiryu Kudaka Karate.

Head Instructors Sensei Chris Ahlers and Sensei Mark McAlpine take pride in offering the Guelph community expert karate instruction at a very affordable rate. We do not get paid to teach karate, we do it because we love it. Our experienced black belt instructors provide students a solid foundation in Shorinjiryu Kudaka Karate, helping them to excel both mentally and physically.

Our classes are disciplined, yet allow students to have fun while working hard toward achieving their goals. GKD emphasizes body movement and footwork accompanied by powerful, proven techniques.

We practice a controlled, full contact style of karate, protecting the body targets with anzen bogu (chest protector) and men (head gear). This conditions the weapons (hands, feet, elbows, etc.) and allows students to safely feel what it is like to hit, and be hit.

Please take some time to explore our website, and to learn more about our dojo and the style of karate we practice.
